Designs, develops, and tests a wide variety of containers used for the
protection, display, and handling of products. Determines packaging
specifications according to the nature of the product, cost limitations,
legal requirements, and the type of protection required, considering
need for resistance to such external variables as moisture, corrosive
chemicals, temperature variations, light, heat, rough handling, and
tampering. Designs package exteriors considering such factors as
product identification, sales appeal, aesthetic quality, printing and
production techniques. Responsibilities may include documentation
management and an understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Manage the design, construction, and qualification of injection molds
located at outside suppliers. Including the review, approval, and
coordination of repairs or modifications to injection molds at
suppliers.
Demonstrate technical expertise, advanced molding capabilities, and
extensive mold design/toolmaking knowledge in plastics.
Manage an adequate and continuous supply of properly engineered primary
packaging components for Fort Worth Manufacturing. This is achieved by
being cognizant of the suppliers' capacities, specifying / qualifying
adequate equipment and tooling and assuring that necessary process
controls are engineered to be efficient and effective.
Assure new components are designed, engineered, and qualified for
manufacturability through frequent and effective communication and
interaction with all levels of R&D, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance,
Materials, Regulatory, and Marketing. Demonstrate thorough knowledge
and use of the appropriate component design procedures and processes.
Apply value engineering and quality tools to continuously reduce
material costs and enhance quality. Maintain frequent communication and
interaction with all levels of R&D, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance,
Materials, Regulatory, and Marketing to assure that all changes are
designed, qualified and delivered per plan.
Minimum Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering-related curriculum.
Minimum Experience Requirements:
9 years progressive Package Engineering experience, with a concentration in the areas of primary,
secondary packaging and automated equipment and use. A minimum of 5
years should be in a pharmaceutical related industry. Excellent project
management skills, coping skills, communications skills and the ability
to work with others as required. Computer literacy desirable. Minimum
1-2 years supervisory experience required.
